The Voyage of the Silver Chair? (aka How many Narnia movies can we cram into one movie?)

A recent article posted on Yahoo explains the changes that have been made in the story of the next Narnia movie, "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader." http://movies.yahoo.com/news/movies.reuters.com/plot-needed-big-changes-new-narnia-filmmakers-say-reuters If you don't feel like looking at the article, I'll sum it up by saying that the production team decided that the story in the book could not work as a movie the way that it is. Instead, the team decided to take elements from the fourth book, "The Silver Chair." 

How does this impact the making of Narnia movies? Well, if I'm reading the article correctly, the only real change is that the story focuses on a rescue mission of some sort rather than a quest story. I don't think this actually changes the events of the story, nor will it actually take story lines from the next book. I really hope this is the case because I really want to see Eustace as a dragon, and Dufflepods, and the pool of gold, and the conquest of an island.

The really confusing part of this change is the idea that a quest story can't make a good movie. Does that mean there won't be a theater version of "The Odyssey?" It's the same kind of story. What about movies like "Rat Race" and "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World?"  These were both successful movies that follow the same formula. I guess I don't know enough about movies to answer that question.

So the main thing to know is that "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" will be releasing soon, and I expect it to be worth seeing, even if you don't get to see Reepicheep's most adventurous moment. (Read the book and you'll know what I'm talking about.)
